2012-The Year of The Brazilian Butt-Lift

The Brazilian Butt Lift also called Brazilian Buttock Augmentation has garnered more attention and interest than any other cosmetic procedure so far this year.

Buttocks augmentations were up 39 percent in 2011, making it the fastest-moving topic on the site in terms of overall consumer interest.  Thanks to heightened media fascination with the curvaceous buttocks of Beyonce, J-Lo and Kim Kardashian, more women are opting for this procedure at an astounding rate.

On a more practical level, women who were genetically predisposed to flat buttocks plagued by ill-fitting and baggy jeans end years of frustration through a safe procedure.

Autologus Fat Transfer (AFT)

The procedure is known as autologus fat transfer (AFT) which simply means, fat is liposuctioned from one area of the body to augment and enhance the shape of the buttocks.

Because fat comes from another area of your body, the risk of rejection is removed unlike buttock implants where the risk is high and the need to replace imminent at some point in time.  The fat that is injected into the buttocks is living tissue – your living tissue. In skillful and talented hands, the result is a beautifully sclupted behind.

There are significant benefits to using a patient’s own fat to augment and/or lift the buttocks. The majority of the grafted fat is permanent and there is no need to worry about implant related complications.  The fat is collected through liposuction of the abdomen, trunk and thigh areas. The fat is then purified and only the best fat cells harvested and injected into the buttocks in tunnels in the layers of the buttocks.

The majority of the fat is able to re-establish its natural blood supply in the buttocks thus remaining alive. When done correctly, 70-80% of the transplanted fat will remain alive. In other words, there is a small chance that 20-30%, might be reabsorbed.

Brazilian Butt Lift Augmentation and Contouring

During the transfer process, your buttocks are artistically augmented and contoured to the desired shape and size. The fullness and projection of the buttocks can be greatly increased by laying many fine layers of micro-fat grafts throughout the thickness of the gluteus muscle and the subcutaneous tissue

The result is a more youthful, fuller and lifted buttock without implants. By combing this procedure with liposuction of the full torso, body contouring produces the much sought after curvaceous figure.

Candidates for Brazilian Butt Lift Augmentation

To be a good candidate for Brazilian Butt Lift, you must have enough fat to remove and inject into the buttocks. If the extra fat is not there, this will be the one time you’ll be happy to gain the extra pounds necessary to produce the shapely buttocks you’ve always desired.

A widespread myth is that fat transfer will result in lumpy or bumpy areas on the buttocks or that fat transfer will create cellulite. These myths are unfounded with the opposite being true in that fat is frequently used to correct irregularities and deformities in the skin. Fat transfer to the buttocks produces smooth skin and a very natural appearance.

Recovery After Brazilian Butt Lift Augmentation

There is a brief recovery period that includes no sitting directly on your buttocks for two weeks. A special garment is worn for six weeks that controls swelling.  Most women can resume working after a few days as long as they do not sit for prolonged periods of time. The use of a rolled towel or inflatable ring takes pressure off your buttocks during those two weeks.

It is very important to take supplements I’ll recommend that will enhance the blood flow to that newly grafted area of fat so that it receives the highest amount of healing nutrients. This will promote the newly transplanted fat to live.  Within two weeks, most normal activities can be resumed. You may experience subtle swelling for 6 to 8 weeks but this should not interfere with normal activities.

After swelling is gone, you’ll see that the Brazilian Butt Lift augmentation brings a completely natural and curvaceous look and feel you have long wanted and thought impossible to have.

At SLEEK Surgical and MedSpa our Board Certified Plastic Surgeons perform brazilian butt lift augmentation on a regular basis and our customers are raving about the results.

Get The Facts About Laser Hair Removal

If you are interested in trying something different rather than your traditional methods of hair removal such as using a razor, tweezers or hot wax to keep hair junk at bay, you must first think about getting laser hair removal to achieve a smooth, hassle free look.   Most people are not aware that laser hair removal has been around for quite some time.  However, during the last 5 years there has been a considerable incline in patients seeking this treatment because of it's affordability.  You may want to learn the basics before getting this procedure.

Laser Hair Removal machines use a beam of light to rid of stubble for long periods of time.  Eventually after a few treatments  the follicles are too damaged to grow properly. This works better for some people than others, and therefore there is no guaranteed time period during which to have smooth skin. Most people will need more than one session for best results, and some people may notice the follicles growing only a few months later, while others do not see this happening for years. In fact, this procedure is best for people with light skin and dark hair.  They will achieve the best possible results.

Laser hair removal is often used for removing fuzz from the upper lip, bikini, armpits and legs. Unfortunately, some people experience side effects no matter what area they decide to use this treatment for.  Some people notice that their skin is irritated for a brief period afterward.  This is very normal for most patients and usually will diminish within 48 hours. This treatment can also temporarily darken or clarify the skin when using a lightening laser, it can change the pigment for a short period of time. However, these side effects should usually disappear on their own. They are very rare to begin with.

The important part of this treatment is choosing an ideally qualified individual. Some spas and salons offer laser hair removal, but to insure consumer safety, it is recommended that you seek a plastic surgeon, who has the experience to handle this equipment and the credentials that go along with it too.

At SLEEK Surgical and MedSpa, we offer laser hair removal and for a limited time only when you buy 1 laser hair removal you get 1 50% off!

Cameron Diaz Shows off Her New and Improved Beautiful Face

Reports have been flooding the internet about Cameron Diaz, who was recently spotted at the Paris Fashion Shows looking quite different.  Several months ago, we noticed that her breasts were definitely larger, indicating she could have had a breast enhancement procedure, such as breast implants.  But now, it looks like the "Bad Teacher" star has made a trip back to her plastic surgeon receiving several treatments that have changed the look and feel of her face.

We asked our very own board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey LaGrasso, who is located in our Ft. Lauderdale location what his thoughts were.  "Firstly, Cameron's skin texture is smooth and very shiny, she could have had several different laser procedures done, such as laser skin resurfacing which can reduce facial wrinkles, scars and blemishes.  Also, we look at pictures of her from a few years back compared to today, it looks as though she has had some chemical fillers applied to her face, such as Radiesse, which upon injection, acts as a volumizing filler that immediately provides the volume and lift needed to diminish the signs of aging.  She definitely has had Botox too, her forehead is very smooth and wrinkle free".

First her breasts and now her face? Since breaking up with baseball star Alex Rodriguez last year, Cameron Diaz seems to have gone out of her way to prove she is young, carefree and single!

Cameron will be turning 40 in August of this year, apparently she is already preparing by turning back the clock a few years.

It is not the first time that Diaz has had work done on her face. In 2006, she admitted to having a nose job but claimed it was for "medical purposes," after she broke it in a surfing accident.

SLEEK Surgical and MedSpa offers all of the latest cosmetic and plastic surgery procedures, with locations in New York, Boston, and Ft. Lauderdale.

The Plastic Surgery Industry Continues to Rise

Plastic surgery, also known as cosmetic surgery, has become more accepted and more common than you would believe these days. The transformation of the body has become perfected to the point where most people would not even known that you have had plastic surgery done. New methods are continually developed that can alter and reshape different parts of the body to your liking or preference.

Plastic surgery used to be reserved for the plentiful and renowned, largely because it was very costly. But prices are now within the reach of the ordinary customer, and more people are taking advantage of it.  Being able to finance your plastic surgery has also played a major role in the significant influx of patients.

Why are so many people opting to utilize plastic surgery? Believe it or not, the main reason is the standard human feeling of vanity. Vanity can be an effective driving force, specifically if a person has come to be convinced that they’re entirely unattractive to their partner or the world at large because of whatever they would like to have actually surgically altered. This fact has become implanted in their head, and plastic surgery is the only option they can easily view.

One of the most common cosmetic surgeries is liposuction, which in a nutshell, removes fat.  Statistics prove that obesity is on the rise, but so are liposuction procedures.  Both men and women are getting this done to help with the battle of the bulge. We all know that a good regimen and an exercise plan can help with weight loss, yet the most well-liked perspective between most individuals today is impatience, and plastic surgery can easily help with that.

Plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery are able to do wonders for you in numerous areas, including making you look more youthful by removing wrinkles and various similar things to give you an even more youthful appearance.

Are you looking for the best plastic surgeons in New York, Massachusetts, or South Florida? Look no further, at SLEEK Surgical and MedSpa, our board certified plastic surgeons are highly experienced and patient care is our number one priority.

Meryl Streep....Still a Leading Lady-Has Plastic Surgery Played a Role in Her Career?

Meryl Streep, 62, has come a long way from feeling like her career was washed up at 40. But did she ever get any help from plastic surgery?  Or did she arrive naturally?
She speaks very candidly in this month’s Vogue magazine that when she turned 40: “I remember turning to my husband and saying, ‘Well, what should we do? Because it’s over.’ ”
Of course, it wasn’t. The story reels off her hits, starting with “The Bridges of Madison County” and continuing through the last 5 years: “The Devil wears Prada”, “Mamma mia!”, “Julie & Julia,” and “It’s Complicated”.
And now, “The Iron Lady”  in which she plays former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

While Streep’s career has thrived, the widely revered actress has publicly opposed plastic surgery.
“The good thing about getting older is that when they do cast you it’s often something interesting – you’re no longer asked to be the beautiful leading lady,” she’s been quoted as saying. She’s said she’s relished tackling the roles that give actors the chance to explore idiosyncrasies.
And she’s mastered those, as we’ve seen, with nary a droopy eyelid or a frozen forehead.
Streep reportedly has denied that she ever got cosmetic surgery. But not everyone believes that she’s never benefited from it.
The beauty/plastic surgery website Make Me Heal said a couple of years ago:
“At nearly 60, Streep has a very taut neck, no jowls, and a flawless face that is virtual free of wrinkles, and refreshed eyes. In light of these youthful characteristics, it is believed that Streep underwent a face lift, neck lift, and quite likely an eyelid surgery.
“Additionally, Streep’s wrinkle-free appearance is likely to be aided by cosmetic procedures done over the years such as laser or chemical peels and the routine dermal injections such as Botox or Restylane.
“It is believed that Meryl Streep has had subtle procedures done all along her career …We think Meryl looks stunning and she should keep doing what she's doing....it obviously works for her!

Want Plastic Surgery? No Worries-There's An App for That!

The next time you see somebody dragging their fingers along their iPad or iPhone screens, they might be doing more than resizing their pictures. They could be resizing their body parts.

The makers of the Plastic Surgery Simulator have just launched a program based on the iPad and iPhone mobile platform, allowing users to manipulate their photos to see what they would look like after plastic surgery. Made by Kaeria ERUL, the program builds on the success of the Plastic Surgery Simulator used by customers and physicians when deciding on procedures. Moving to the mobile platform opens new doors for the company and potentially adds to the increasing number of plastic surgery patients, said Benjamin Melki, Kaeria chief executive. “With this app, users can distort their picture to see how they would look with a differently shaped nose, breasts, chin, buttocks, and so on,” he said. “Sometimes, just a slight modification makes a tremendous difference to one’s appearance. It can be shocking to see the before and after photos.”

PSB Simulator pic1 Plastic surgery simulations? There’s an app for that!Users can import photos from their library or memory stick and stretch, grow, shrink and brush body parts. Once finished, the new photos can be cropped and saved and shared via email or Facebook. The new images can also be shared through the company Website Befaft.com, where other users can view, comment and rate. The mobile Plastic Surgery Simulator works on iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch devices using the iOS 4.3 operating system and Mac OS 10.6.6 systems. The program is available for $1.99 from the Apple App Store in the Photo and Video category.  As with the original program, users are not guaranteed specific results as it is used to help in the decision-making process. According to the company, 5 percent of Plastic Surgery Simulator users are doctors. Users also receive free access to the Befaft.com network.

This app will vastly improve a patient's confidence going in for surgery as well as help plastic surgeons understand their patient's desired look.  We are excited to launch our Sleek Surgical and MedSpa Plastic Surgery simulator app, which is currently in the works for 2012!

Considering Rhinoplasty?

Not satisfied with your nose? Planning to alter it? Then, rhinoplasty, or a nose job is what you might need. However, before undergoing this procedure, there are some things you need to consider, since rhinoplasty is a life-changing procedure and should not be taken lightly. By having some idea about rhinoplasty, you’ll come to know if you are a good candidate or not.

So what is the purpose of rhinoplasty? Usually when people think about nose jobs, they think about it purely because of vanity. This is true for many patients who have rhinoplasty to correct the imperfections of the nose and give a pleasing appearance to their face. However, this is not in all cases. The procedure can also be used to correct facial disfigurement arising from birth defects, accidents or illnesses. This includes repairing the function of the nose, such as curing impaired breathing, as well as making the nose appear more aesthetically pleasing.

Who can have rhinoplasty? Most surgeons would advise against undergoing rhinoplasty until the growth has finished, or around late teens. In girls, this can be done as early as 13 or 14 years of age. However, proper assessment will still be done on whether the growth of the patient is complete. In boys, rhinoplasty will be performed around 16 years of age since they physically mature slower than girls.

There are different factors in assessing who will be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. One of these is the emotional state of the patient. A reputable surgeon should confirm that the reason for undergoing a nose job is healthy and not caused by any underlying emotional or mental conditions. In terms of physical health, the patient should be in good condition and have no history of bone disorders or any underlying medical conditions. The patient should also not be taking Accutane, which can cause complications or unwanted side effects.

Finally, the surgeon will check your requirements and measure whether your expectations are realistic in regards to what a nose job can achieve. It is the surgeon’s aim to produce a nose which is both functional and which compliments the other facial features. Requesting a nose similar to that of your favorite celebrity cannot be granted if it doesn’t suit your features.

If you want to know if you are a good candidate for rhinoplasty, you can visit Sleek Surgical and MedSpa for a free consultations. Like any surgery, rhinoplasty has also its own risks so do comprehensive research and ask your surgeon all the necessary things before undergoing the procedure. Thousands of people successfully undergo rhinoplasty every year, and are now enjoying the improvements the procedure has made in their lives. You can join them too if you think it’s a way for you to boost your self-esteem.

Bodies Under Construction-How Young is Too Young?

Although reasons for cosmetic surgery range from getting a better look to improving job prospects, often the common factor among patients is more than skin deep. Teenagers who are thinking about having plastic surgery to change the way they look are often addressing issues of self-esteem. Between the ages of 13 and 19, there’s a lot of emphasis on peers and what others think of you. It’s also a time when things such as not being part of the popular crowd, changes in financial situation and divorce can negatively affect a teenager’s self esteem.

Cosmetic surgery may have a positive impact if your body image is consistently tied to a negative focus on a particular facial feature or body part. There are cases when a teenage patient wants reconstructive surgery to correct a significant discrepancy between her upper and lower jaws. When she came into the office for the initial consultation she constantly looks down at the floor. After the surgery, she was looking up and smiling.  But be careful because there are murky areas as well.  Liposuction is one of those areas. So is breast augmentation because you’re not really sure that the teenager has stopped growing yet. But there are exceptions, for example, if a patient has breast asymmetry, correcting the size of a breast , when women develop breasts that are different in terms of shape and size, can be appropriate for teenage girls because it causes a very significant psychological impact on them during their developmental years.

Doctors are very aware of the psychological drama affecting our lives and it has become a very important factor when evaluating a patient.  The key thing from a plastic surgeon's perspective is to assess physical, emotional and psychological maturity before treating a patient.

At Sleek Surgical and MedSpa we spend a great deal of time with the patients, regardless of their age, to determine that they have thought out their concern carefully and have reasonable goals and expectations.  In other words, cosmetic surgery can improve a patient’s body but it won’t necessarily improve their self-image or guarantee happiness.  We work very closely with our young patients and their parents to insure that they are making the right decision.

So, if you’re considering cosmetic surgery you need to ask yourself what you hope to achieve.

Teens need to be especially realistic with the fact that cosmetic surgery may be only one piece of many things that serve to improve aspects of themselves. There may be physical changes but the real change begins with who they are inside.

Can Getting Cosmetic Surgery Boost Your Career?

Why do you think most people who opt for cosmetic surgery do so? Is it to alter their appearance, impress the opposite sex? Do you think people have cosmetic surgery to further their careers? The answers are yes to all of the above because people have cosmetic surgery for different reasons. Unfortunately some do it because others want them to such as a spouse or boyfriend wanting their partner to get a breast lift. Models and actresses are often getting nose jobs to improve their appearance and models often get body lifts to improve their figures because they earn money based on how they look. Models are not the only ones getting cosmetic surgery for career reasons though, many professionals have to compete with younger competitors for the same job promotion and look to cosmetic surgery to increase their odds when it comes to competing against the younger crowd.
Men and women are electing to have cosmetic surgery to look more youthful. Others in there 50s are looking towards cosmetic surgery as a way to reverse the signs of aging. Young patients are seen by doctors to remove acne scars or to diminish early signs of wrinkles. Facial contouring for the chin or cheeks using implants, gentle liposuction as well as chemical peels are also popular with those in there 20s and 30s. Actors, actresses, pop stars and other singers, and also models all are paid not only for their talents but for how they look so many turn to cosmetic surgery to improve their looks while in the public eye.

Research points out that beautiful people tend to make more money and have more opportunities for advancement than others. It could very well be that cosmetic surgery can increase your chances for a successful career. The corporate world does put a lot of emphasis on image, and image does boost confidence. Especially in the field of finance many men feel the competitive pressure to look young in order to climb the corporate ladder. Other research shows that people are more attracted to attractive people. Think about this the next time you approach a row of cashiers in a department store or grocery store, do you ever find yourself choosing which line to get in based on what the cashier looks like? There is another unspoken saying that your effectiveness in the workplace declines as you age, so it is natural for those who want to be viewed as successful later in life to have the appearance of younger individuals.
Popular cosmetic surgeries done to enhance workplace promotions are eyelid surgery for men and teeth whitening for both sexes. Women tend to get more nose jobs and cosmetic breast surgery.

Winter Is Ideal For Laser Procedures!

The popularity of laser skin resurfacing, a process where light is used to repair wrinkles, sun damage and scarring is on the rise, and doctors say that winter is a great time to undergo these procedures.

It's very important to avoid the sun as much as possible and it's a lot easier to do that in the winter time than it is in the middle of the summer.  For achieving the best results while undergoing any type of laser treatment, skin must be shielded from the sun minimizing exposure.

Doctors who perform laser procedures, such as laser hair removal, encourage their patients who desire a razor-free life to start treatments at least 4 months prior to summer.

DID YOU KNOW?

Laser Hair Removal works best on pail skin with darker hair follicles.  If you have dark skin or if you have very light hair follicles you may not be a candidate.  However, consulting with your plastic surgeon is required who will make the final determination.

According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), the number of laser skin resurfacing procedures performed by its members increased by nearly 10 percent between 2009 and 2010.  These numbers have jumped to over 20% in 2011.

Doing this type of fractional resurfacing improves skin texture, skin color, pore size, acne scarring, any kind of scarring issues that you may have.

While a licensed, board-certified plastic surgeon can discuss what type of skin resurfacing is best for you, it's important to note that results often take as long as several months to completely appear. However, the procedure does provide long-lasting results.

Baby Boomers Looking For Love Online May Turn To Plastic Surgery

An increasing number of baby boomers are looking for love online, and may want to make some cosmetic enhancements in order to find their perfect match.

A survey by OurTime.com, a dating site that targets baby boomers (those born between 1946 and 1964), found unmarried people over 50 consider companionship more important now than they did during their 20s.

CNN reports that an eHarmony.com survey conducted in 2010 found that internet dating sites are the most popular way members of this generation are finding companions.
The Associated Press reports that those over 50 are the fastest growing segment of eHarmony's users.
Individuals who embrace the internet as a way to meet people should take the advice of experts when it comes to finding love online.

Posting a recent picture is recommended, rather than posting one that was taken 20 years ago. Otherwise, dates may feel that you are dishonest.

"Young people tend to go for looks, period," University of Washington sociology professor Pepper Schwartz told the newspaper. "Older people often have a little bit more leeway on what somebody looks like, but then they have all these other kinds of requirements that may or may not be realistic."
Those considering re-entering the dating scene in their 50s or 60s may also consider undergoing some cosmetic enhancements to improve their appearance beforehand.

According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), in 2010, common surgical procedures for those over the age of 50 included facelifts, cosmetic eyelid surgery and liposuction. Non-surgical procedures such as Botox injections, hyaluronic acid injections and laser skin resurfacing were among the popular non-surgical procedures performed on those in this age group.

Acceptance of those who undergo plastic surgeries is increasing as well, according to ASAPS. A recent survey found that 53 percent of women and 49 percent of men say they approve of plastic surgery. In addition, 67 percent of Americans said they would not be embarrassed if their friends and family knew they had cosmetic surgery.

"Taking care of yourself and paying attention to physical appearance is increasingly important to everyone," ASAPS past President Dr. Felmont F. Eaves III said. "As both traditional surgical procedures have been improved and refined, and new nonsurgical options have become available, aesthetic plastic surgeons have more to offer to their patients."

BRO-TOX...MEN WANT TO LOOK GOOD TOO!

What to get the man in your life is an ongoing dilemma for so many women.  The usual go-to gifts have been gadgets, sports tickets, and car equipment.

But a HOT item this past holiday season, was BOTOX.

Yes, you heard correctly....BOTOX!  Ladies, move over because this trend is growing.  Last year more than 300,000 men got Botox according to figures released by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.  That is a 10% increase from the previous year.  You may be waiting to get Botox with a room filled with men soon.  Studies say that the number will more than double in the next coming years.

You might be wondering what type of man gets Botox.  One would think an actor, or a model.  Botox is NOT just for the metrosexual type who cares about looking his best from head to toe.  How about a fireman or a construction worker?  Yes, they care about the look and feel of their skin!  MANLY men want to get in on this action too!

With Valentine's Day just a month away, get your sweetheart the gift that keeps on giving...well at least for 3-6 months.  Oh and another thing, make sure he actually wants it.  You don't want to give him a gift that he thinks your crazy for giving.  Most men would not go out and get Botox on their own.  It's usually becomes a thought after they see the fabulous results that their wife or girlfriend got from just one simple treatment.  So when he compliments your gorgeous, flawless, wrinkle free skin...forget the usual sports related gifts and treat him to a gift certificate for Botox.  He'll thank you for it!

Choosing the Right Size Breast Implant-Not Such an Easy Task

For some women, deciding to have breast augmentation is the easiest part of the process.  Choosing the right size breast implant can take a little longer.

Let's be realistic: in a breast obsessed society, BIGGER usually equates with BETTER.  But is it really?  That depends on your individual taste, your body frame and type, and the "look" you're going for.  The professional opinion of a board certified plastic surgeon who's experienced in breast augmentation, coupled with realistic expectations on your part, can help ensure that you'll end up with the bustline you've always wanted.

However, there are many different things to consider when making this life-changing decision.  Don't rush into it.  Most plastic surgeons will guide you and explain exactly why he or she chooses a specific size for you.  You may go into your consultation and think you want to be a full B cup, when in actuality, your proportions would allow you to become a full C cup.  Don't get scared!  Most plastic surgeons have seen and heard it all.  The last thing you want is to go through surgery and not get your desired look.

Don't EVER let a plastic surgeon rush you into making any surgical decision.  At Sleek Surgical and MedSpa we work one on one with our patients needs.  We understand that sometimes this requires a lot of personal attention and in some events more than one consultation in order to obtain the trust required to decide if surgery is the answer .

The keyword here is YOU.  Choose a size that makes YOU happy, not your spouse, significant other, family member or best friend.  After all, it is your body, and your life!

Mariah Carey-From Big Baby Belly to Hot Momma!-Did She Nip and Tuck?

Mariah Carey reportedly gained over 60 pounds while pregnant with her twins.  Of course when pictures surfaced from her new add campaign with Jenny Craig, there was a lot of speculation on how she EXACTLY lost all of that baby weight so fast.  She currently could be seen flaunting her post-baby body in a commercial for the weight-loss giant where she wears a very revealing mid-driff top showing off her abs which are looking quite tight and toned.  Alas, the question arises of did she or didn't she get a tummy tuck?

From the look of the pictures and video we have seen of Mariah, we would have to say that she definitely went for some liposuction, along with a tummy tuck, and perhaps even a breast lift.  These types of procedures are MOST desired by new Moms, industry experts call it a "Mommy Makeover".  Let's face it, choosing to have any type of post baby surgery that helps you feel and look better should not be scrutinized, but rather condoned.  Mommy Mariah's desire to get that booty back into shape will encourage women everywhere that they do not need to feel embarrassed or ashamed if diet and exercise don't always do the trick.

Statistics prove that more than 65% of women in the USA will have one or more type of cosmetic or plastic surgery in their lifetime!

So You've Decided to Get Plastic Surgery....Got Questions?

You've taken the first step and set up a consultation with a plastic surgeon.  You have so many questions and concerns, right?  Well, your not alone,  this is an important life-changing decision.  There are many different things to consider.  It doesn't matter if you want to get liposuction, a face-lift, a breast augmentation, or a simple cosmetic procedure such as Botox injections.  These questions should remain the same. You want to know as much as possible about your prospective surgeon's skills, experience, and credentials.

Here's a list of the top ten questions you must ask before deciding if that surgeon is right for you.

1)   Are you Board Certified?

2)   How many times have you done this procedure?

3)   What other medical staff will assist with the procedure?

4)   Where will the procedure be performed?

5)   Do you have hospital privileges to perform this procedure?

6)   What type of anesthesia will be used during this procedure?

7)   What are the risks associated with this procedure?

8)   Can I see multiple before and after photos?

9)   Can you provide me with patient references who are happy with their results?

10) What is the breakdown of the fees associated with this procedure and do you offer financing?

Once your plastic surgeon has answered all of these questions, you can now have a better way to determine if you have chosen the right one.

At Sleek Surgical & MedSpa our patients are our priority.  Our Board Certified Plastic Surgeons are here to speak with you and help make you as comfortable as possible with your decision.

Botox... Juvederm...and Restylane...Oh My!

There are lots of anti-aging injectables on the market today for the purpose of smoothing lines and wrinkles.  Some even add volume and fill in scars.  Some are good for mild or moderate issues while others are better for severe cases.  While others are used solely to plump and add volume to the face.

This has gotten very confusing for many seeking these types of treatments.  How do you know exactly what treatment is the right choice for you?  There are just simply more options than there were just a few short years ago, and not enough info that clearly defines their differences.  Here are some facts about the BIG THREE, as we like to call them.

The Low-Down on the Most Popular Products:  Botox, Juvederm, and Restylane

Botox is an injectable, like the other products, but it is not a facial filler.  So, it's primary purpose is to freeze the muscles which cause the wrinkles.  Botox is most commonly used around the eyes and forehead area.  Results are immediate and last anywhere between 3-6 months.

Juvederm is a gel filler used to treat moderate to severe lines and wrinkles by adding volume under the dermis.  Common treatment areas that respond well to this thick filler are those deep lines from the corners of the nose to the edges of the mouth, lasting close to 9 months before a re-visit to your plastic surgeon is needed.

Last but not least, is Restlylane, which is another type of gel filler.  For this treatment, a very fine needle is used to inject the gel into the skin.  Restylane has developed an excellent track record and some "fame" as a safe way to smooth wrinkles and reshape lips by plumping up the skin.  Results can last upwards of 12 months.

At Sleek Surgical & Medspa, one of our Board Certified Plastic Surgeons will evaluate your face and determine a custom approach just for you.
