Undo your skin sins of the past! If excessive sun exposure has left you with sun spots, red patches, broken capillaries, fine lines and other skin concerns - then a SLEEK Photo Facial is the right treatment for you! A Photo Facial is a skin treatment that uses light-based technology to boost collagen, which creates plumper, younger-looking skin. It can also be used to kill the bacteria that causes acne. The amazing facial rejuvenation properties have been proven with medical research, and unlike those cosmetic skin care treatments that remove the outer skin and require significant healing time, intense pulse light therapies (IPL), work to gently penetrate the skin without damaging it. Instead, they target and destroy the blood vessels and brown pigment that are the cause of the problem. Intense Pulse Light Facials are non-ablative, which means that they work without harming the surface of your skin as a means to improve its appearance.
One of the main advantages of these treatments is that you can achieve significant improvement of sun damage skin with no healing or downtime. While your results won’t be as dramatic as plastic surgery, this type of facial is a gentler, more natural - and less expensive way to go!
SLEEK Surgical & MedSpa Photo Facials are painless, cool and relaxing, and carry no risk of burning. According to SLEEK Beauty Experts, the best results come after a series of Photo Facial treatments, so a series of six treatments with one to two weeks in between is recommended. After that, you can maintain your beautifully youthful skin with a treatment every month or two. Your Photo Facial series can be conducted as part of another SLEEK treatment, or as a stand-alone service.
Photo Facials work best in conjunction with a regular skin care routine, so be sure to ask about the SLEEKskin collection during your next visit. Make your appointment today, because this quick and easy laser treatment will leave you with the smooth, clear skin of your youth!

The Value of JCHAO Accreditation for our Patients
When looking for a reputable plastic surgeon, most know to
look for one that is Board Certified, but many fail to ask whether the
organization they choose is JCHAO credited. What is JCHAO you might ask?
JCHAO
stands for Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations.
JCHAO is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to
continuously improve the safety and quality of care provided to the public; it
does this through the provision of health accreditation and related services
that support performance improvement in health care organizations. JCAHO is
governed by a 28-member Board of Commissioners that includes nurses,
physicians, consumers, medical directors, administrators, providers, employers,
labor representatives, health plan leaders, quality experts, ethicists, health
insurance administrators, and educators. The corporate members of JCAHO are the
American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine, the
American College of Surgeons, the American Dental Association, the American
Hospital Association, and the American Medical Association.
At Sleek Surgical & MedSpa, we believe you deserve the highest
quality of health care. That’s why Sleek Surgical Center in New York is

will know that JCHAO has closely examined our facilities, systems and
procedures. It means that we, as an organization, have demonstrated the highest
level of care and safety in meeting or exceeding all state and federal
guidelines.
Why is JCAHO important to you? Because your body is important and we
want you to feel comfortable making the decision to entrust Sleek Surgical & MedSpa with all your surgical needs. We are not required to seek JCAHO accreditation,
but we choose to because our goal is to provide the highest quality of care to
all of our patients.

Breast implants for the 18 year old?
It is more common now than ever for young women to have plastic surgery to improve their look. What do you think about this? The article below from The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery examines how young women are interested in Breast Enhancement surgery to gain confidence and improve their look. The article also examines how parents are willing to pay for these surgeries that their children, specifically daughters, ask for. Sleek Surgical & MedSpa offers Breast Enhancement surgery by Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who are the best in their field. If you are interested in Breast Enhancement surgery (whatever your age) make sure you choose a doctor you can trust.
Recent high school graduate Madison Landis, who is 18-years-old, recently got breast implants as a graduation gift. She says her small breasts made her self-conscious.
"I feel like it will make me more confident for college and less insecure about myself," she recently told CNN about her upcoming surgery.
Madison's parents say that they agreed to pay for the cosmetic surgery to help their daughter's self-image.
"It's something she felt really strongly about," Madison's mom, Tonya Everett, told the news source. "She's 18 and it's her body, so we're willing to support her decision."
While studies show that self-esteem can be improved by cosmetic procedures, it is best to exercise caution when it comes to teens. Most doctors will not perform breast augmentation surgery on patients under the age of 18, those graduating from college this spring, as well as some high school grads, can often get the go-ahead. And many plastic surgeons say they see an increase in the number of young women seeking the surgery this time of year.
"You see it around graduation," one plastic surgeon told WomensENews.com. "You see it around holidays and spring break, especially around the Christmas season."
The article also emphasizes the importance of visiting a board-certified plastic surgeon before making any decisions and understanding the risks of surgery and breast implants. Some patients make the decision first and worry about the details later. During a consultation, a qualified surgeon can make an assessment about breast surgery, whether or not it’s too early or if a patient is not mature enough to handle the process. Also, breast implants are not lifetime devices and will need to be replaced in the future. A teen must understand that they will most likely need replacement surgery in the future.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), breast augmentation surgery remained one of the most popular surgical cosmetic procedures in 2011, with more than 316,000 total surgeries performed by ASAPS members. Women aged 18 and under only accounted for 1.5 percent of the total, while almost 50% are between the ages of 19-34.

How older men can get a job at Google, Facebook: Brotox
The article below examines how more men are interested in Botox in order to get better jobs and look younger in the workplace. If you are interested in Botox treatments, whatever the reason, come to Sleek Surgical & MedSpa. Sleek offers Botox, as well as other injectables to help soften your look and shed off years! Call today at 1-800-SLEEK-USA to schedule your free consultation and visit us on the web at www.SleekMedSpa.com for more information on this non surgical procedure. We look forward to seeing you in FL, MA, or NY very soon :)
There is now a significant trend for men to get Botox treatment in order to look younger in job interviews. How might this affect Silicon Valley hiring?
Google, Facebook, and their ilk are young companies. In every sense.
It isn't merely that they rise in their toddler years to become worth more than many nations. It's that all of the faces who work there seem fresher than springtime daisies.
This has led to the occasional accusation that these companies don't really want to hire older people. You know, those over 36.
Google, indeed, suffered a lawsuit from Brian Reid, the then 54-year-old engineer -- and the man credited with helping craft the first firewall -- who claimed he was terminated just before Google's IPO because of his age.
Now, however, some men whose years are advancing are taking steps to avoid being seen as old. The remedy: cosmetic surgery.
As CBS Dallas-Fort Worth reports, some men in their 40s are not going to take it any more. They're going to fill it.
They're going to get themselves Botox.
CBS talked to Don Pelham, a Dallas businessman who lamented his looks.
"It was like I was 26 one day, and then I woke up and I was in my 40s. Some of the things weren't looking the same way they used to," he said.
Some find that happening after one long night on tequila.
His cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Jeffrey Adelglass, surely offered hope to so many when he told CBS: "They look older, they look tired. They don't have that vitalized look. They come in and get a vitalized look, and bam they get a job."
Bam.
Pelham admitted that this procedure -- charmingly referred to as "Brotox" -- isn't something he immediately describes to his friends. However, he has a simple theory about life, or at least its physical side: "Up to 25 it's physique, after 25 it's maintenance," he told CBS. "So, I'm just maintaining."
Perhaps maintenance isn't a concept that has quite reached Silicon Valley yet. I know, though, that certain people who reach their mid-30s suddenly feel old at tech companies.
They are surrounded by pretty little boys and girls who believe they'll soon make their fortunes, while still being able to online date, smoke pot, and drink profusely just as they did at college.
It can be somewhat disorienting, especially if the younger employees of their target sex look to them more as mentors and friends, rather than vibrant objects of desire. It's even worse if they're not very good on a skateboard.
Perhaps there are a few techies in the Valley's woodwork who have already availed themselves of facial rejuvenation.
It would be lovely to hear if it helped their fortunes -- as well as young people's heads -- turn.

Could Botox help you stop grinding your teeth?
Wouldn’t you like to find a way to stop grinding your teeth successfully The article below from The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery discusses how Botox may be able to help nighttime teeth grinders. Sleek Surgical & MedSpa offers Botox as well as many other MedSpa services. Make sure and take advantage of the last day of our promotion with $10 per unit Botox. For more information on Botox or other services visitwww.sleekmedspa.com or give us a call at 1-800-SLEEK-USA. We look forward to seeing you at Sleek shortly!
Have you ever woken up after a long night's sleep feeling like you had been chewing on gravel while you slept? A pair of new studies has found that Botox, the drug commonly used to help individuals improve their looks by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face, can also help those who suffer from nighttime teeth grinding.
MyHealthNewsDaily.com reports that researchers from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston tested the efficacy of using Botox injections to treat nocturnal bruxism, or chronic nighttime teeth-grinding.
For the study, 23 patients with nocturnal bruxism were randomly assigned to receive a Botox injection or a placebo injection. Four weeks after the initial injection, participants and their partners were questioned about whether their nighttime teeth grinding had improved. Scientists found that the Botox was found to provide significant relief to those who received it, while the only side effect was a slight change in appearance for some people when smiling.
A separate study, conducted by scientists at the Henry Ford Medical Center in Detroit, showed that patients who were experienced severe bruxism following head injuries benefitted from Botox injections, and experienced no side effects, according to MedicalXPress.com.
DeltaSleepLabs.com reports that nocturnal teeth grinding is one of the most common sleep disorders affecting 30 to 40 million Americans. Many people don't know they have the condition and are alerted to it by their partner or a dentist. Nocturnal bruxism can damage the teeth, and has been associated with headaches and pain in the jaw area.
Experts say larger scale studies are needed to determine if Botox is effective in treating teeth grinding.
It's important to note that the wrinkle-reducing injectable has been approved for several other non-cosmetic uses as well. According toBotoxMedical.com, Botox is also commonly used to treat urinary incontinence, chronic headaches, muscle stiffness, cervical dystonia and eye problems including muscle problems with the eyes (strabismus) or abnormal spasm of the eyelids (blepharospasm). Scientists are also currently testing Botox's efficacy in treating other conditions such as asthma.
However, the most common use of the drug is to treat crow's feet, laugh lines and other wrinkles by temporarily paralyzing the muscles. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Botox was the most commonly performed non-cosmetic surgical procedure in 2011, with more than 2.6 million individuals undergoing it.
While Botox often provides positive cosmetic results with few side effects, its effects are not permanent and injections need to be repeated every three to six months for the best results.
Individuals interested in the procedure should speak with a licensed, board-certified plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist to ensure their safety and a positive outcome.

Getting Even: Better blepharoplasty outcomes depend on appreciation of asymmetry
This piece is taken from the Cosmetic Surgery Times magazine, by Cheryl Guttman Krader, Senior Staff Correspondent. The article discusses blepharoplasty in
relation to asymmetry. Blepharoplasty is the surgery of the eyelid, which can
make one look more awake, young and fresh. If you are interested in eye surgery, Sleek Surgical & MedSpa can help you to achieve the look you desire. Schedule a FREE consultation with one of our surgical centers in Manhattan,
New York, Fort Lauderdale or Boston and find out how eyelid surgery can work
for you.
The ability to
recognize pre existing asymmetry and address it with an asymmetric approach to
surgery is important for achieving satisfaction in patients presenting for
cosmetic upper eyelid blepharoplasty, says Robert A. Goldberg, M.D.
Speaking at the
2012 meeting of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Goldberg
discussed detection and management of subtle asymmetry in upper blepharoplasty.
“Most people are
not aware of differences between one side of their face and the other, even
though facial asymmetry is ubiquitous. However, patients are likely to spot
unevenness after cosmetic surgery, particularly as they concentrate on their
appearance in a magnifying mirror and partly because a procedure that removes
skin, fat and soft tissue can unveil pre-existing deep asymmetry,” says Dr.
Goldberg, chief, orbital and ophthalmic plastic surgery, Jules Stein Eye
Institute, and Karen and Frank and Frank Dabby Professor of Ophthalmology,
David Geffen School of Medicine, University of California, Los Angeles.
In my referral
practice, I commonly see patients who are very unhappy because of asymmetry
after upper blepharoplasty and who are convinced is the fault of the surgeon,”
Dr. Goldberg says. “This information underscores that it is incumbent on
surgeons venturing into procedures addressing the aesthetics of the periorbital
area to be able to understand the nuances of asymmetry existing around the eyes
and to discuss the preoperative findings so that the patient understands the
situation. Then, unless the patient chooses against it, surgeons must be
prepared to surgically treat the asymmetry, which usually requires operating
more on one side than the other.”

Listening to music calms patients during plastic surgery procedures
This article from The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery examines how patients benefit from classical music during their cosmetic surgery procedure. Surgery can be stressful for the patient and music is really a way to help anxiety. If you are thinking of having plastic surgery, give us a call at 1-800-SLEEK-USA to schedule your free consultation. A Board Certified Plastic Surgeon will speak with you regarding your procedure and answer all of your questions. Sleek Surgical & MedSpa will make your surgery as anxiety free as possible. You will be so excited about your procedure that you will be completely worry free on surgery day!
A new study from Oxford University Hospitals
finds that patients undergoing plastic
surgery procedures may benefit from having music playing in the
operating room.
Researchers from the
Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Department at the John Radcliffe Hospital in
Oxford measured the respiratory rates of 96 surgical patients before, during
and after their procedures. They were also asked to rate their feelings of
anxiety and worry. All of the participants were awake during surgery using
local anesthetic for procedures like removal of skin lesions and cleansing of
limb wounds. Half of the surgeries took place in rooms with music playing,
while the others did not have music in the background.
The study found that
those who listened to music during their procedure had lower respiratory rates
and reported lower levels of anxiety.
"Undergoing surgery
can be a stressful experience for patients and finding ways of making them more
comfortable should be our goal as clinicians," said the study's lead
author, Hazim Sadideen. "There are also good medical reasons - calmer
patients may cope better with pain and recover quicker. This small scale work
is the first time an attempt has been made to measure the impact music has in
this specific group of patients and hints at the need for bigger multi-center
research to establish whether this should become part of standard
practice."
As for what type of
music has the greatest calming effects, researchers say most of the subjects
listened to classical pieces by Mozart, Beethoven, Vivaldi and Bach, according
to The Telegraph.
Others chose to listen to Frank Sinatra music.
This research may help patients have more enjoyable surgical
experiences, as the American
Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) reports that more than
9 million people underwent cosmetic
procedures in 2011, some of which were performed while patients were
awake.

Did Tom Cruise Get Plastic Surgery?
Happy Friday! The article below taken from The Orange County Register speculates as to whether Tom Cruise has had plastic surgery. Cruise denies he has ever had lipo or any plastic surgery for that matter, however some just don't understand how he has managed to look this good, at this age, without it. Do you want to have the body of Tom Cruise? If so you can at Sleek Surgical & MedSpa for an affordable price. We currently have a promotion this month for 10% off 3 areas of lipo and perform many other surgical procedures. Check us out on the web at www.SleekMedSpa.com to learn about each procedure and give us a call today at 800-SLEEK-USA to schedule your free consultation. We could all use a little nip and tuck to get our bodies looking great for summer.
Tom Cruise rocks ’80s look, denies nip-tucks
Tom Cruise rocks ’80s look, denies nip-tucks
Here’s Tom Cruise, tatted up
and wearing “guyliner” on the latest cover of W magazine. He’s promoting his role as
an ’80s rock star in the upcoming summer movie, “Rock of Ages.”
How’d Cruise, who is pushing 50,
get this look?
“A combo of some funky lipo
coupled with a spray-tanned six pack and a hefty dose of Photoshop as well,”
opines the website Cele-bitchy. ” … Tom has to take everything
to extremes, so he has to have the best little spray-tanned abs available. As a
result, he looks like a freak.”
Over at Playboy, meanwhile, Cruise
denies he’s ever gotten plastic surgery. ”I haven’t and I never would,” he
says in the June issue.
And, on how he maintains the looks
of a 25 year old:
”I honestly have no idea. I work.
I’m always with family. I train, go without sleep.
I just go hard.”
Glad that’s been cleared up.
Not everyone’s buying it.
Some Daily Mail comments:
“I think he looks wonderful,wouldn’t
mind more mature men looking like this instead of the overweight pot bellied
man I usually see in London.”
“He’s an actor. He doesn’t work
down the mines. Of course he’s aged well.”
“Mr. Cruise I salute you! I’ve no
reason to disbelieve you are a miracle of the modern age, honestly I haven’t !
.
“He
is just a good looking bloke.”
And some of the Cele-bitchy
comments:
“Well, you have to admire his
courage in being willing to look ridiculous. A lot of image-obsessed megastars
wouldn’t be willing to try something so far out.”
“Dude. Give it up. Hair bands didn’t
take themselves seriously. They had fun. They loved it every minute of it. They
still love it. You aren’t going to win an Oscar for being Tommy Lee. Although I
will say some of those boys should have had Cover Girl contracts back in the
day because their cosmetic application (especially eyeliner) was perfecto.”
“I’ve never seen a well-muscled
guy who has muscles that look like that. Random thought: this is Tom’s last
shot at putting a cap on that role where he sang or whatever while in his
underwear. He’s getting a little long in the tooth for these movies.”
Cruise came in for the same type
of scrutiny when he starred in Mission Impossible 4.
The plastic surgery website Make Me Heal wrote, ”On set photos of
Tom without a shirt reveal that while he has an impressive physique for a man
of his years, it also looks a little lumpy, like he has had liposuction. The
ripples and bumps are reminiscent of Tara Reid’s notoriously botched plastic
surgery.”
The site quoted Miami plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Salzhauer saying,
“Tom Cruise is flaunting a very unevenly toned abdomen. It is very
possible that he has had some liposuction to his abdomen in the past that has
left him with this look.”

Breast augmentation celebrates milestone
Happy Birthday to Breast Enhancement Surgery!! Are your breasts sagging? Would you like them to be larger? Sleek Surgical & MedSpa can help you achieve the look that you have always wanted. Check us out on the web at Sleek Surgical & MedSpa and give us a call today at 1-800-SLEEK-USA. We look forward to seeing you in Fort Lauderdale, the Boston area, or New York very soon!
While many people get breast
implants as a birthday gift, others treat themselves to the surgery
in order to improve their physical appearance and self-confidence. But this
year, those who celebrate a milestone in their lives with this cosmetic
procedure should know that the procedure itself is hitting a milestone. That's
right – 50 years have passed since the first Breast Augmentation procedure was performed in 1962, so 2012 marks the
surgery's 50th birthday!
Today, there are two types of breast
implants available – silicone and saline. Silicone implants are
filled with sterile salt water. According to ASAPS, these implants may be
pre-filled to a predetermined size, but they can also be filled at the time of
surgery. The average cost for these implants in 2011 was $3,308.
Silicone gel-filled breast
implants are medical devices implanted under the breast tissue or
under the chest muscle. These implants have a silicone outer shell filled with
silicone gel. They come in different sizes and have either smooth or textured
shells. ASAPS reports the average cost for these types of implants in 2011 was
$3,694.
"Surgical techniques for breast
augmentation and breast
implants themselves are continuously being refined, increasing the
safety and reliability of the procedure," reports ASAPS.
In fact, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently
approved a new type of silicone-gel breast
implant, manufactured by Sientra. These implants are available
textured or smooth and either round or shaped, which some believe helps to
create a more natural looking breast.
A licensed, board-certified plastic surgeon can help patients
decide which type and size of breast
implant is best for their desired outcome. According to the American Society for Aesthetic
Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), more than 316,000 individuals underwent the
surgery in 2011, making it the second most common surgical procedure done by
ASAPS members.
