There are lots of anti-aging injectables on the market today for the purpose of smoothing lines and wrinkles. Some even add volume and fill in scars. Some are good for mild or moderate issues while others are better for severe cases. While others are used solely to plump and add volume to the face.
This has gotten very confusing for many seeking these types of treatments. How do you know exactly what treatment is the right choice for you? There are just simply more options than there were just a few short years ago, and not enough info that clearly defines their differences. Here are some facts about the BIG THREE, as we like to call them.
The Low-Down on the Most Popular Products: Botox, Juvederm, and Restylane
Botox is an injectable, like the other products, but it is not a facial filler. So, it's primary purpose is to freeze the muscles which cause the wrinkles. Botox is most commonly used around the eyes and forehead area. Results are immediate and last anywhere between 3-6 months.
Juvederm is a gel filler used to treat moderate to severe lines and wrinkles by adding volume under the dermis. Common treatment areas that respond well to this thick filler are those deep lines from the corners of the nose to the edges of the mouth, lasting close to 9 months before a re-visit to your plastic surgeon is needed.
Last but not least, is Restlylane, which is another type of gel filler. For this treatment, a very fine needle is used to inject the gel into the skin. Restylane has developed an excellent track record and some "fame" as a safe way to smooth wrinkles and reshape lips by plumping up the skin. Results can last upwards of 12 months.
At Sleek Surgical & Medspa, one of our Board Certified Plastic Surgeons will evaluate your face and determine a custom approach just for you.

These three cosmetic treatments are the best available right now, in this exact order:)
Botox has the first place because it can treat other problems besides wrinkles. Juvederm and Restylane are the two most used fillers in Toronto but not only.
The hyaluronic acid that can be found in their composition determined their effectiveness....for those that have no idea what this acid is, I can only tell you it's a substance that can be found naturally in our skin....
Thanks for your feedback Julia! We totally agree!
