Mariah Carey-From Big Baby Belly to Hot Momma!-Did She Nip and Tuck?

Mariah Carey reportedly gained over 60 pounds while pregnant with her twins.  Of course when pictures surfaced from her new add campaign with Jenny Craig, there was a lot of speculation on how she EXACTLY lost all of that baby weight so fast.  She currently could be seen flaunting her post-baby body in a commercial for the weight-loss giant where she wears a very revealing mid-driff top showing off her abs which are looking quite tight and toned.  Alas, the question arises of did she or didn't she get a tummy tuck?

From the look of the pictures and video we have seen of Mariah, we would have to say that she definitely went for some liposuction, along with a tummy tuck, and perhaps even a breast lift.  These types of procedures are MOST desired by new Moms, industry experts call it a "Mommy Makeover".  Let's face it, choosing to have any type of post baby surgery that helps you feel and look better should not be scrutinized, but rather condoned.  Mommy Mariah's desire to get that booty back into shape will encourage women everywhere that they do not need to feel embarrassed or ashamed if diet and exercise don't always do the trick.

Statistics prove that more than 65% of women in the USA will have one or more type of cosmetic or plastic surgery in their lifetime!

So You've Decided to Get Plastic Surgery....Got Questions?

You've taken the first step and set up a consultation with a plastic surgeon.  You have so many questions and concerns, right?  Well, your not alone,  this is an important life-changing decision.  There are many different things to consider.  It doesn't matter if you want to get liposuction, a face-lift, a breast augmentation, or a simple cosmetic procedure such as Botox injections.  These questions should remain the same. You want to know as much as possible about your prospective surgeon's skills, experience, and credentials.

Here's a list of the top ten questions you must ask before deciding if that surgeon is right for you.

1)   Are you Board Certified?

2)   How many times have you done this procedure?

3)   What other medical staff will assist with the procedure?

4)   Where will the procedure be performed?

5)   Do you have hospital privileges to perform this procedure?

6)   What type of anesthesia will be used during this procedure?

7)   What are the risks associated with this procedure?

8)   Can I see multiple before and after photos?

9)   Can you provide me with patient references who are happy with their results?

10) What is the breakdown of the fees associated with this procedure and do you offer financing?

Once your plastic surgeon has answered all of these questions, you can now have a better way to determine if you have chosen the right one.

At Sleek Surgical & MedSpa our patients are our priority.  Our Board Certified Plastic Surgeons are here to speak with you and help make you as comfortable as possible with your decision.

VASER® vs Smartlipo | The Great Debate

We asked our SLEEK followers to send in your questions about anything you wanted to know about and after an overwhelming number of you asked about the pros and cons of VASER® and Smartlipo, we will now give our thoughts to the great debate.

While both procedures are useful in areas where fat is more difficult to remove because it tends to be more fibrous. These include the back, and saddlebag area as well as the chest on men being treated for gynecomastia. Smartlipo uses laser light which converts the heat to melt the fat and VASER® uses ultrasonic sound waves which converts to heat to melt the fat. They are also useful when performing large volume liposuction. Both reduce bleeding which means that there will be less bruising, swelling, and pain, and faster healing.

Smartlipo uses laser technology to melt and liquefy the fat within the fat cells. In addition, it smoothes and tightens the skin to decrease the looseness that one sometimes sees with traditional liposuction. It can be utilized alone to treat smaller areas of fat, such as below the chin, or in combination with liposuction to remove larger areas of fat such as in the abdomen, flanks and thighs.

At SLEEK Surgical & MedSpa, we prefer VASER® Lipo. Our surgeons have found that using VASER® technology our results are more contoured, defined and has quick healing period. VASER® causes less damage to the sensory nerves in the area being treated. For treatment of areas that have some associated skin laxity, VASER® can be helpful in providing skin retraction. Another fantastic aspect of VASER is the ability in many cases to use local anesthesia. According to the VASER® website,

"Using a technique called LipoSelection, VASER® Lipo targets specific areas of the body. Ultrasonic waves break up and separate fat cells for removal, while leaving vital tissues unharmed.VASER® Lipo is so precise and gentle that patients typically report dramatic reshaping with little downtime. Physicians like VASER® Lipo because it gives them the precision to produce more predictable results — whereas traditional liposuction can result in lumpy or uneven areas."
